SAN JOSE – Registered voters for the Lone District of Antique totaling to 318,215 are expected to cast their votes in the May 2013 elections.
Atty. Gil Barcenal, provincial election supervisor, said in an interview that the town of Sibalom recorded the highest number of registered voters with 31,911 then San Jose (the province’ capital) with 29,992.
Other towns on top five are Hamtic with 24,968, Culasi – 23,008 and Patnongon -20,522.
Antique has a total of 680 clustered precincts with 515 voting centers.
Of the 18 towns, the municipality of Sebaste has the lowest number of voters with 8,304.
Barcenal said a coordinating conference was earlier conducted with Antique Police Provincial Office and Philippine Army operating in Antique to discuss concerns and plan out security preparations to ensure peace and order during election period.
During the conference, nine towns in the province are considered areas of concern due to incidence of violence during the 2010 elections, insurgency problem in the area and perceived intense political rivalry.
