Controversial Mabilog spokesman
says life has gone too complicated
After three years in public service, Jeffrey Celiz, the controversial spokesperson of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will resign from his current position as liaison officer for political affairs of Mabilog effective Wednesday this week to prepare for the May 13, 2013 elections.
Yesterday, Celiz confirmed before members of the Iloilo City Hall Press Corps (ICHPC) that he will give up his current position as permanent employee of the Iloilo City Hall because of the threats, complications and risks he and his family are facing because of his job.
As liaison officer, Celiz is receiving a Salary Grade 4 or equivalent to P 10,358 a month.
“This is to preempt further complications in my current position,” said Celiz.
Celiz added it’s up to the mayor what his new task would be but he is willing to accept any assignment as long as it won’t create any complication.
“We will give the mayor a chance to decide for his political campaign,” he said.
Also yesterday, Celiz has filed his leave of absence until the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Mabilog declined to comment further on the issue while Celiz’s resignation letter has not yet reached his office.*
