Possible storm may enter PH Dec. 23

A possible storm might enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on December 23, according to state weather bureau Pagasa.

Fernando Cada, forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration, told InterAksyon yesterday that a low-pressure area may hover over the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

"As of now it's still over Micronesia," Cada said. "It's still a cluster of clouds but chances are it will be an LPA."

However, even if it enters the PAR, it will not directly affect the country yet, although, if it does intensify, it would be the 17th storm to visit the country and will be called "Quinta."

Storms are rare at this time of the year.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), however, warned that the typhoon may enter PH as early as December 21.* InterAksyon.com
