CENRO Iloilo organizes 7 municipalities for NGP

In line with the implementation of the National greening Program (NGP), the Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) Iloilo organized the municipalities of San Joaquin, Tubungan, Miag-ao, Igbaras, Maasin, Alimodian and Leon for a continuous and massive tree planting activities in identified NGP sites in their respective areas.

Regional Executive Director Adeluisa G. Siapno said this partnership is a manifestation of strengthened linkages between the DENR and the LGUs. 

“The DENR continues to strengthen its campaign for a greener forest by extending the NGP-related activities to different municipalities in the province of Iloilo, and other provinces in the region,” said Siapno.

In San Joaquin, CENRO Iloilo prepared the NGP sites of A. Bonifacio, Pitogo, Camaba-an, Panatan and Bagumbayan involving Peoples Organizations, barangay officials and schools, both public and private.

The same endeavor will be done simultaneously in Igpaho and Igtuble in Tubungan; Onop, Alimodias, Cabalaunan and Dalije in Miag-ao; Tigbanaba, and Igpigus in Igbaras; Trangka in Maasin; Uminggan in Alimodian; and Danao in Leon.

RED Siapno fervently encouraged all stakeholders to support and be involved towards poverty alleviation, food security and climate mitigation and adaptation.

NGP is a priority program of the Aquino administration enjoining all sectors of the society to plant 1.5 billion trees in an approximate of 1.5 million hectares of land from 2011-2016.*
