Consumers of the Shanghai Morning Post voted the Philippines as the “Most Romantic Destination” in the world.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Consul General Charles Jose received the award during a ceremony held January 15 at the post Shanghai Peninsula Hotel by the Bund.
Other country-winners are Australia - The Best Tour Destination for Discovery; Switzerland - The Best Shopping Paradise; Korea - The Best Skiing Destination; and Germany - The Best Destination for Art Appreciation.
On January 9, the country was awarded the “Best Tourist Destination” by the Oriental Morning Post during its annual World Travel – Special Trips Awards.
More and more Chinese are traveling to the Philippines especially during this winter season in China and for the upcoming week-long Chinese New Year holiday in February.
Several Philippine carriers have re-launched their flight services from China to the Philippines to cater to the growing demand of Chinese travelers for short-haul beach holidays.
Airphil Express reactivated its chartered flights from Shanghai to Kalibo on Nov. 30, 2012. This was followed by Zest Air which also increased its regular flight frequency from Shanghai to Manila in December 2012.
The regular multiple flight services to Manila continue to run steadily out of Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Jinjiang and Guangzhou.*
