Traveling public were advised to ensure their vehicles bear legal plates as police step up their implementation of the “No Plate, No Travel” policy.
The Police Regional Office 6 said the conduct of intensified checkpoint operations will deter the movements of criminals and other threats to the peaceful and orderly conduct of May 13 elections.
Police station chiefs, according to PRO 6, were already informed to enforce the “No Plate, No Travel” police and the unauthorized display of commemorative plates.
It said the use of motor vehicles without plates is not only uncommon to carnappers but also to other criminals, like robbers and gun-for-hire assasins.
Last week, all police field commanders were ordered to confiscate unauthorized commemorative plates, particularly the one of Philippine National Police Academy Class 1989 and Iloilo City 75th Charter Day, which were declared by the Land Transportation Office as unauthorized unless declared otherwise.*
