DFA lauds NBS for ‘patriotic move’

E-mail Print PDF

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert del Rosario lauded the move of a bookstore chain to remove globes showing claims of China over contested territories in the West Philippine Sea.

In a letter, del Rosario said the Philippine government is commending the National Bookstore management for demonstrating its patriotism in supporting the protection of Philippine sovereign rights in the said area.

Del Rosario noted the role of the bookstore in enriching the minds and knowledge of young Filipinos.

“Your resolve in immediately implementing this decision reflected your company’s strong sense of nationalism over and above economic profit.”

Last week, the NBS removed from its shelves the China-made globes containing misinformation such as making virtually all of the West Philippine Sea a Chinese territory.*
