Members of the Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney Owners and Drivers Association (ICLAJODA) has requested for the assistance of the Iloilo City Police Office to eliminate the presence of the barkers.Â
According to Boyet Parcon, ICLAJODA president, they have already submitted a manifesto to acting ICPO director Ruperto Floro.Â
He noted that the presence of barkers affects their income and also worsens the traffic situation of the city.
Ina radio interview over Aksyon Radyo, Parcon said that barkers usually force drivers to pay P5 every time they load passengers in some loading areas in the city.Â
Parcon said that they opted to seek assistance from the police because some barkers threatened drivers when they give less than P5.Â
He added that because of the barkers, the jeepneys are congesting the streets.Â
Floro, meanwhile, said that they already started apprehending barkers since last week.Â
Aside from ICLAJODA, other transport groups like the Iloilo City Alliance of Drivers' Associations (Icada) and Pinagkaisang Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) Panay also complained against the barkers.*
