The ‘escape’ of the two inmates from the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Jail (IPIJ), which according to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 6’s investigation, was allowed, brings shame to them, said BMJP 6 Human Resource Head, Jail Inspector Jimmy Britanico.
In an interview over Aksyon Radyo, Britanico said he does not blame Gov. Arthur Defensor if he loses trust on the BMJP which was tasked to oversee the jail facility’s security.
He said they have become the public’s laughing stock because the incident showed they did not properly apply their training.
If it were up to him, Britanico said he’d like the personnel responsible for the prisoners’ escape, to retire.
In a report over Aksyon Radyo, Britanico and JO3 Ronilo Jong found out that the two inmates, who escaped from jail last week, were actually allowed to go out to pawn their jeans.
Jailguard SJO1 Armando Sotomil admitted that Willy Lopez asked permission from him if he could go out, to which he said yes. However, he failed to make sure that the inmate’s followed.
Thus, Lopez and his companion Jonathan Bedia climbed the rooftop, went down through a bamboo pole and crawled going to the garden until they reached the perimeter fence.
The two proceeded to Brgy. Igbang, then to Trapiche, Oton until they arrived in West Habog-Habog, Molo where they were captured the day after.*Â
