The Task Force on Internet and Gaming Center Anti- Piracy and Pornography (IGCAPP) is strictly monitoring 145 mobile internet stations that have no business permits.
Ben Palma Jr., director of IGCAPP said most of these coin-operated internet machines or “hulog piso” are located in La Paz district and the City Proper.
While the deadline of business permit renewal is tomorrow, they will inspect these establishments to see if they renewed their permits.
But if they insist on operating without complying with the requirements set by the City Government, he will refer their case to the City Legal Office.
Last year, there were 437 internet stations in the city but only 237 were registered.
CLOSED
The IGCAPP has already closed 55 internet stations since 2010.
Last year, three got closure orders from the City Legal Office while the others voluntarily closed their stations after receiving violation notices.
PROHIBITIONS
Internet stations are warned against allowing viewing of pornographic materials and having minors during class hours.
Palma said they have arrested 40 erring minors.
Once minors are caught, the IGCAPP will give the school administration the names of these students and the school will then inform the parents.
The internet operator where the minors were caught will be warned.
For the first offense, the business will be closed for two days; second offense, one week closure; and third and subsequent offense, a fine of P 5,000, imprisonment from six months to one year and permanent closure.*
