E-mail Print PDF

Apart from being one of the election watchlist areas (EWAs) in Western Visayas, the district of Jaro also has growing cases of snatching involving motorcycle-riding criminals.

Currently, there are 10 cases in the said district, according to Chief Inspector Gilbert Gorero, Jaro police chief.

He said, of the said cases, four happened after the Jaro Fiesta celebration on February 2.

To monitor the thieves’ existence as well as their modus operandi, police personnel, Iloilo City Mobile Group and Members of the Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (MASCO) were deployed in Jaro’s 42 villages and other public areas.

They also conduct continuous checkpoint operations and crackdown against motorcycles without plate numbers.*
