Members of media, information officers, and other communication groups will have a chance to know more about Biotechnology during a scientific forum on Biotechnology for Communicators.
This will be sponsored by the Biotechnology for Life Media and Advocacy Resource Center (BMARC) on Nov. 15, 2012 at the Westown Hotel in Iloilo City.
This is part of a series of fora organized by BMARC in partnership with the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines and the Department of Agriculture-Biotechnology Program Implementing Unit.
This forum, according to BMARC aims to provide a positive development communication environment among media practitioners, communicators and biotechnology advocates toward a more cohesive cooperation for the promotion and advocacy of biotechnology.
At the same time it will also provide a facilitative environment where communicators may interact with each other and be equipped with proper knowledge in communicating research outcomes, trends and applications of biotechnology as well as increase their understanding of biotechnology.
Invited speakers will lecture on biotechnology, trends, breakthroughs and its application specifically in areas of agriculture. The application of biotechnology to enhance agricultural productivity is expected to generate jobs, mitigate hunger and alleviate poverty in local communities and at the national level.*PIA
