The P2.5-million Multi-Purpose Building of Barangay 2 in Silay City, Negros Occidental was inaugurated on Dec. 2 in rites led by Third District Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
“This building is a symbol of the dedication and commitment of the people of Barangay 2, Silay City to serve their community and help one another so that their lives are better and their barangay happy and peaceful,” Benitez said.
He also asked the residents to care for the structure like how they care for their families, homes and neighborhood.
“May this community continue to be strong and united with the leadership of your committed official,” Benitez added.
The multi-purpose building will house the offices of the barangay officials and of the barangay-based social services unit.
Benitez also thanked the people for their support and cooperation for the construction project as he cited the invaluable assistance of the national government for the funding of the project through the Priority Development Assistance Fund as well as the provincial government of Negros Occidental, the city government of Silay, and the Department of Public Works and Highways.
During the inauguration rites, the mass and blessing was officiated by Fr. Fil Duaban.
Officials who witnessed the ribbon-cutting, unveiling of marker and the ceremonial key turn-over were Third District Board Members Patrick Lacson and Manuel Frederick Ko, Silay City Councilors Marie June Castro and Aileen Javier and Association of Barangay Captains President Joedith Gallego.*NLG
