The country has so far received P665.8 million in financial assistance for the victims of Typhoon “Pablo” with more material assistance still pouring in, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The DFA said the widespread devastation caused by “Pablo” solicited the cooperation of international communities, which helped in the effort to rehabilitate the lives of the affected persons, particularly, those in Mindanao.
Some nations which donated financial aid were Australia – P307 million; Canada – P82.6 million; China – P1.2 million; Indonesia – P41.3 million with 4 metric tons of assorted goods; Japan – P172.million with 45M Yen-worth of goods; New Zealand – P17.06 million; Singapore – P1.6 million; South Korea – P8.26 million; Switzerland – P26.8 million; US – P4.08 million with P404.4 pledge;
Meanwhile, the following countries donated assorted relief goods: Ireland – 31.99 MT of medical supplies; Malaysia P4.7 million-worth of relief goods; Unicef – 500 units each of hygiene kits and water containers; World Food Programme – 100 MT of high energy biscuits.
European Union also pledged P160 million, Spain – P16.4 million and UK – P22.2 million-worth of financial assistance.
As of yesterday, death toll from “Pablo” rose to 1,047, with 692 identified, while 841 remain missing.*
