KALIBO – The purchasing power of peso in Aklan was pegged at P0.75 from September to October, this year, the National Statistics Office (NSO) reported.
This means, according to the NSO, that a peso (P1) in 2006 is worth seventy-five (P0.75) in September and October, this year, or the same basket of goods and services worth P75 in 2006 was bought at P100 in the said two successive months.
The purchasing power of the peso is a measure of the real value of a currency in a given period relative to a chosen reference period.
Market basket, on the other hand, is a term used to refer to a sample of goods and services that are commonly purchased and bought by an average household.*PIA
