Ynion understands Mabilog's tantrums
But says it's time to wake up
Businessman Rommel Ynion said that it is normal for Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to react on the recent survey on corruption by the Social Weather Station because it affects his name and the city.
In an interview over Kapihan sa Bali yesterday, Ynion said the survey which showed that 85 percent of the businessman-respondents perceived that corruption happens in the city government is a validation of his fight against corruption.
The survey which solicited controversial reactions showed that 85 percent of the businessmen-respondents from Metro Iloilo located corruption at the city level while 84 percent located corruption at the national level, 78 percent at the provincial level, and 69 percent at the barangay level.
The mayor earlier asked for an apology over the said survey results but the SWS refused to do so claiming that there is nothing to apologize for.
Ynion meanwhile clarified that the people of Iloilo are intelligent enough to decode the truth.
He also said that SWS surveys have served as a barometer for social reality.
He said that the survey should serve as a wakeup call for the public to take action.
“It should serve as a wakeup call to fight corruption,” he said.
The 2012 SWS Survey of Enterprises on Corruption, which covered Metro Iloilo also covered Makati, Davao, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Angeles City in Pampanga.*
