Two cousins are now detained for alleged possession of dried marijuana leaves after they were arrested in a checkpoint Tuesday noon at Brgy. Casalsagan, Pototan, Iloilo.

Senior Inspector Lorenez Losaria, Pototan police chief, identified the suspects as Franzel Inoja, 22, backrider; and Julio Inoja, 22, driver; both residents of Brgy. Quipot, Janiuay town.

Reports said that instead of calmly passing the checkpoint, the two maneuvered for a U-turn so the police run after them until caught.

Losaria said that the two suspects threw two matchboxes on the ground.

“When we checked what’s inside the matchboxes, we saw dried marijuana leaves,” he added.

They admitted to be marijuana peddlers in Janiuay town and they get their supply from a distributor in Dumangas. Losaria said they did not reveal the distributor’s identity.

In addition, police discovered that Julio drove without license and he failed to show an official receipt-certificate of registration (OR-CR) for the motorcycle.*
