Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has ordered anew the strengthening of anti-criminality strategies, especially with the advent of the Holiday Season when the volume of commuters, motorists and pedestrians is expected to rise.
Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, Jr., police regional director, has already directed all police units to review the operational capability of Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (MASCO) and the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS).
The implementation of MASCO and PIPS is seen to deter crime incidence through enhanced police operations and police visibility in areas where petty criminals thrive, like malls, bus terminals, seaports, churches among others.
“We could also neutralize motorcycle riding-in-tandem criminals, arrest wanted persons, and deter the movement of loose guns,” he said.
With cops expected to patrol busy streets, Cruz expected that response to call for police assistance and other emergencies will be more effective.
But Cruz also enjoined the public to be more cautious of their security and safety while traveling and doing other outdoor activities.
TIPS
Since last month, PRO6 released flyers containing safety and security tips for Christmas’ and New Year’s celebration.
Written in Hiligaynon, the safety/security tips include the dos and don’ts on what to do when a resident is leaving his or her unattended, when going on a trip, when going to church or at the beach and malls, and when using pyrotechnics and firecrackers.*
