This question came in the wake of a series of criminalities against private citizens and media practitioners during the administration of City Mayor Jed Patrick Mailog.
What we hear are just rhetoric and empty promises from the mayor that he will rid the city of bad elements.
The attempt on the life of freelance radio commentator Kapid Gabio in front of his house in broad daylight is a manifestation of the city government’s inability to give protection to members of the media.
We see tarpaulins bearing Mabilog’s face in every nook and cranny of the metropolis, but these have failed to persuade many Ilonggos that lives improved under his administration.
Some local businessmen expressed dissatisfaction because of the irrational tax increases. So, they have no choice but to pass this on to consumers. This shows that Mabilog is anti-poor.
Our stinking river is yet to be rehabilitated. The problem on the mountainous garbage at the Calajunan dumpsite, that has become a permanent habitat for rodents, giant flies and other pests, is yet to be solved.
Such stink also engulfed the new City Hall even before it was occupied.
So, there. Mabilog dreams for his personal interest, thus he failed to act for the city’s deliverance. His desire to make the city one of the world’s greatest wonders is nothing but a figment of his imagination. ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
