A security guard of a videoke bar was killed following a vehicular accident Sunday at the bypass road going to the Iloilo International Airport in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
Bojo Soratiosa, a resident of Brgy. Cabugao Sur, Sta. Barbara, was on board a motorcycle driven by 23-year old Nelson Pastolero of Pototan, Iloilo, when the accident happened.
According to witnesses’ accounts, a Light of Glory taxi driven by Arsenio Orosio, 54, of Brgy. Dungon-B, Jaro, Iloilo City, was racing with another vehicle when it hit the motorcycle while doing a turn.
Soratiosa was thrown out of the motorcycle and slammed back on the left windshield of the taxi.
Worse, the speeding cab ran over the victim.
After the incident, Pastolero voluntarily surrendered to Santa Barbara Municipal Police Station.
Over the weekend, a trailer truck driver was also placed in police custody after he intentionally sideswiped a biker at the corner of Ticud and Loboc, La Paz, Iloilo City.
Robert Suelo, a resident of Brgy. Mantulang, Passi City, Iloilo, admitted that he deliberately bumped Francis Ronald Alipuon, 30, of Brgy. San Isidro, La Paz, who was riding a mountain bicycle.
Suelo told police investigators that he had a heated argument with Alipuon after he almost sideswiped the latter.
He decided to run into the victim after he saw him pulling something into his waistline.
At that instance, Suelo thought that Alipuon was pulling a gun.
The truck driver is now detained at the La Paz Police Station and might face a murder charge.*
