Capitol to extend P2-M aid to typhoon-ravaged Mindanao

The Iloilo Provincial Capitol will give a financial assistance of P2 million to Mindanao for its rehabilitation program after President Benigno Aquino III has put the region under State of Calamity because of the damages brought about by Typhoon Pablo.

Yesterday afternoon, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) have resolved to give P1 million each for Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental through the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

The budget will be taken from the 2012 Annual Budget fund of PDRRMO.

PDRRMO executive director Jerry Bionat is set to prepare the needed documents and endorse the urgent resolution to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) for its approval on Monday’s session.

Under the Commission on Audit’s circular no. 2012-002, the release and use of the Local Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRM) fund shall be supported by the local Sanggunian resolution and the declaration of State of Calamity for Quick Response Fund (QRF).*
