The Iloilo Business Club (IBC) here has set its sights on helping a distant elementary school in Iloilo province instead of spending their money for its Christmas party.
IBC executive director Lea Lara said that with the help of their Italian donors, Emanuele and Marilisa Vespignani, they recently kicked off the repair of the two-classroom building of Abat Elementary School in Mina, Iloilo.
Lara said the building is already dilapidated yet, it continues to cater to Kinder and Grade IV pupils of the school.
Aside from renovation of the building, they also repaired the arm chairs and tables and refurbished the school library.
The school, which caters to six barangays, has a population of 261.
The IBC has been doing rehabilitation projects as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Its members also did rehabilitation projects in barangays Tampok, Bulacan and Cainta, Rizal in 2011 and 2009, respectively, to help rebuild communities affected by typhoons.*PNA
