The image of St. Pedro Calungsod will be in Iloilo on November 23 as part of the "Duaw Nasud" or national visit initiated by the Calungsod Team based in Cebu City.
Grace Dequilla, member of the Jaro Archdiocesan Youth Commission (JAYC) for the Year of Faith of the Archdiocese of Jaro, said that the image is the "exact image" that was brought to Rome for his canonization.
The visit is one of the activities to highlight the launching of the Year of Faith in the Archdiocese.
The image will be welcomed at the Dumangas Parish, when the vessel carrying the image will arrive from Negros Occidental.
From Dumangas, a motorcade will transport Calungsod's image with a 15-minute stopover at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Ungka, Jaro.
Dequilla said the visit will give prisoners a chance to offer their petitions to the Filipino saint.
The image will also pass by Ateneo de Iloilo; St. Anne Parish in Molo; Iloilo City Hall; Provincial Capitol; and Immaculate Conception Chapel at the West Visayas State University Medical Center.
The motorcade will culminate at the Jaro Cathedral where a vigil until 3 a.m. of the following day is scheduled.
Then, the image will travel back to the Dumangas Port for its next stop – Dumaguete City.
St. Pedro Calungsod was canonized by Pope Benedict Pope Benedict XVI last October 21, this year, in Vatican and became the second Filipino saint next to St. Lorenzo Ruiz.*PNA
