Local government units of Kalibo and Aklan were recently conferred with excellence awards in governance in the recently-concluded Department of Interior and Local Government’s Excellence in Local Governance or EXCELL Awards.
Aklan placed first runner up in the “Best Performing Province” category while Kalibo bagged the “Best Performing Municipality (1st to 3rd class category) in Region 6.
Kalibo LGU also placed second runner up in Administrative and Social Governance, regional winner in Excellence in Economic Governance, Valuing Fundamentals in Good Governance and Excellence in Environmental Governance.
Aklan, meanwhile, is second runner-up in Administrative Governance and in Excellence in Economic Governance, champion in Excellence in Environmental Governance and first runner-up in Valuing Fundamentals in Good Governance.
Engr. Roger Esto, provincial planning and development coordinator, said Negros Occidental was ahead of Aklan “by a hairline.”
In last year’s EXCELL Awards, Aklan placed second runner-up.
