BORACAY Island, Malay - The Dept. of Public Works and Highways sought the help of the windsurfing group in this resort island for the completion of the final phase of the circumferential road project.
Aklan District Engr. Roberto Cabigas said windsurfers had protested the proposed construction of roads at the Bulabog beach area.
"We had a budget of P20 million for the final phase of the circumferential road," said Cabigas during the public consultation with different stakeholders organized by the local government unit of Malay.
The DPWH started the circumferential road project in 2007. The road project aims to provide a one traffic route for this resort island for the convenience of both tourists and locales.
"We have asked the help of the stakeholders to help us find alternative route for Boracay in order for us to complete the circumferential road project," Cabigas added.
Nonetheless the group of windsurfers, the local government of Malay and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources have vowed to help one another in finding alternative routes for the road project.*PNA
