ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A special citation was received by Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) General Manager Engr. Edgar Diaz for the cooperative's contribution to the national government's ongoing countryside energization under Sitio Electrification Project (SEP) and Barangay Line Enhancement Program (BLEP).

The citation was given by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) during the annual gathering of electric cooperatives in Davao City held recently.

Capelco energized about 88 percent of the sitios in Capiz as of December 2011 making the coop on track with President Benigno Aquino's target to energize sitios.

"If no sitio will be added in the province, we will accomplish the task ahead of time," Diaz stressed.

The electrification efforts of sitios followed after Capelco has completed the energization of barangays provincewide in March 2005 in line with its mandate to provide reliable and quality electric service to the communities.

The NEA has set a five-year target (2011 – 2015) for the implementation of BLEP and SEP to improve electricity in 2,341 barangays and to light up 32,441 sitios all over the country.*PIA
