BACOLOD CITY – The city government of Bago received a P3-million funding assistance from the Negros Occidental provincial government for the development of the city's Bantayan Park as a tourist attraction.
Located within the park is a boulevard, showroom, and pavilions of each of the 24 barangays of the city, featuring their locally-made products.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. turned over the check to Mayor Ramon Torres in rites held in Bago City yesterday.
Torres said the city government plans to put up permanent structures at Bantayan Park.
We will use the assistance extended by the provincial government for the backfilling of the underdeveloped portion of the park, he said.
Marañon said the tourism industry provides a boost to the city's economy and has a multiplier effect to small businesses in the barangays.
The governor also discussed with city officials projects on agricultural productivity that will ensure the rice sufficiency in the province as Bago City is one of the biggest rice producers in Negros Occidental.*
