Guimaras played host to the 23rd Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Kasaysayan at Kalinangan with the theme "PUOD: Kasaysayan at Kalinangan ng mga Pamayanang Maritimo sa Pilipinas." 

This is a 3-day event from Nov. 28-30, 2012 at Manggahan Hall, Guimaras Tourism and Information Office (GTIP), Jordan, Guimaras. 

It is an initiative of ADHIKA ng Pilipinas in cooperation with ADHIKA-Balangay Iloilo, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Historical Commission of the Philippines, UP Visayas-Center for West Visayan Studies, Guimaras Provincial Tourism Office, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education and Vibal Publishing House, Inc.

The conference, participated by historians, researchers, scholars and delegates from other regions, aims to revive and feature the different aspects of the maritime industry and its contribution in enriching the culture of the Philippines as an archipelago. The Asosasyon ng mga Dalubhasa, may Hilig at Interes sa Kasaysayan (ADHIKA) ng Pilipinas, Inc.'s main thrust is Kasaysayan ng Bayan, a discourse and practice of historical writing based on Filipino culture and holistic/inter-disciplinary approach to Philippine society and history.*
