Direk owns 10 condo units in Manila
The La Nina destroyed his 3-hectare farm planted to "Red Lady" papaya, that could cost him over a million bucks in unrecovered capital and more millions in unrealized profit, this Honorable Director quickly recovered. Now, it is no longer papaya, but "lakatan" banana that dominates his farm beside a high way en route to Aleosan. Nine months from now, these plantlings will start blooming and three months after Honorable Director, will again be flooding the market with lakatan bananas.
He readily recovered because Honorable Director has millions to spare in liquid and solid resources. He has 10 condo units in Manila, a palatial rest house on an island that he also co-owns with a lawyer, and an antique house made of coral stones that the National Historical Institute (NHI) declared "national heritage", meaning eligible to receive grants for its preservation, maintenance and rennovation.
He happily sat on his post in the time of Erap, and was lucky enough to continue sitting on it during the ascent of Gloria, and still enjoys the same luck under P-Noy whose "matuwid na landas" should be renamed "tuwad na landas" for his administration's failure to detect that Honorable Director and his wife have not been born with the proverbial golden spoon in their mouths. Neither did their incomes from legitimate sources (salaries, income from the island resort, and papaya farm combined) could afford to establish such kingly glory of owning 10 condo units, among others.*
