For winning as best destination pavilion for three consecutive years, "Balay Silay," the pavilion of Silay City at the Panaad Park will be given the Hall of Fame Award by Gov. Alfredo Maranon, Jr. during the closing rites of the 2012 Panaad sa Negros Festival on April 15.
"Silay City is now exempted from the pavilion competition," said provincial tourism officer Cristine Mansinares.
"Balay Silay," adjudged champion in 2009, 2010, 2011, features an ambience of the turn-of-the-century Silay, chronology of important events, and festival costume display.
Guided tour is facilitated by Gerle Sulmaca, Frances Dane Cobrado, and Nathalie Porsalida with tourism volunteers from La Consolacion College-Bacolod.
Mayor Jose Montelibano said the present Silay Pavilion is a result of the collective efforts of the Silaynons who gave suggestions on how to improve "Balay Silay" every year.
The Silay Pavilion is managed by Neil Solomon Locsin, consultant for historical research; Achilles Corteza, cultural affairs officer; and Marissa Montelibano, president of Hugyaw Silay Inc.
This year, Silay City is also competing in the Best Food Security Corner and Best Festival Costume competitions.
Tourism office Ver Pacete said the Silay City Food Security Corner showcases the organic farm products through the Silay Agricultural Office.
It also a show window for delicacies made by the organized delicacy makers' association assisted by the Livelihood and Cooperative Management Office, herbs and vegetables of Fresh Start Organic, and crafts from community-based organizations.
