Five students and five professionals from Western Visayas have recently been chosen as Fellows in the 10th San Agustin 10th Writers Workshop.
They are Adrian Paolo P. Cordero, Nizza Anne E. Regalado, and Danielle Liza G. Molina, all high school students from Ateneo de Iloilo; G.L. John C. Haro and Aurea Lynne G. Paz, both taking up Bachelor of Science in Education major in English at the West Visayas State University; Early Sol A. Gadong, a Math teacher at the South Coast International School in Oton, Iloilo; Gil S. Montinola, a teacher from Mina, Iloilo; Nynn Arwena G. Tamayo, a government employee from Kalibo, Aklan; Jonard V. Verdeflor, an English teacher from Concepcion, Iloilo; and Agnes E. Dimzon, a freelance writer based in Iloilo City.
The Writers Workshop is an annual summer program conducted by the Fray Luis de Leon Creative Writing Institute at the University of San Agustin Center for Research and Publications. This year's fellowships are open to writers in Western Visayas who are willing to learn the craft of writing children's literature. The panel is headed by Palanca-winning writers Leoncio P. Deriada, Ph.D., Isidoro M. Cruz, Ph.D., Genevieve L. Asenjo, Ph.D., Alice Tan-Gonzales, Ph.D., and Marcel Milliam; and award-winning Akeanon poet Melchor F. Cichon.
The 10th San Agustin Writers Workshop will be held on May 2-5, 2012 at the President's Conference Room of the University of San Agustin, General Luna Street, Iloilo City.*PR
