ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Parents expressed gratefulness to Brigada Eskwela for receiving while giving out services.
Nila, a mother of a two high school students of Dao National High School in Dao, Capiz, said the Brigada Eskwela was an opportunity for them to receive free services.
"My two children enjoyed their barber's cut courtesy of the Philippine Army who provided free hair cut to students and parents also during the Brigada activity," she said.
Nila, who also joined the event by helping the school clean up activity with her children, said she was able to save 100 for the haircut of her two kids.
"This free haircut is a big thing for us because the money to be spent for it will be used for other school needs like notebooks, ball pens and pad papers," she said in Hiligaynon.
The different services for the Brigada Eskwela in said school were coordinated and facilitated by the Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation headed by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ex-Officio Member Maria Felipe Zoe Herrera.
Included in the said services were free circumcision, dental mission and school clean-up operation.
Painting of chalk boards, minor repair of cabinets and chairs and painting of classrooms were likewise done.
So far, 23 students and parents were given free haircut and 35 students availed of the free circumcision of the Philippine Army while the dental team of the Provincial Government of Capiz and the Army served 72 students and parents as well.
On the other hand, Herrera said that the Brigada Eskwela is an avenue for the SK to show their concern for the youth, especially on the issues of education, environment, health and sports.
He also revealed that aside from Dao, the SK will likewise be bringing the same services to Cuartero National High School, Sapian and Panitan National High Schools on May 22,23 and 25, respectively.
The Brigada Eskwela is set from May 21 to 26 to make the school ready for students and teachers during the opening of classes in June.*PIA
