KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Health (DOH) allocated almost P100 million for the upgrade of eight hospitals and rural health units (RHU) in Aklan.
In a recent presentation by Dr. Victor Santamaria, Provincial Health Officer II, during a meeting of the Multi-Sectoral Task Force in Kalusugang Pangkalahatan/Community Health Team, it was revealed that for 2012, the DOH has allocated P99.91 million for the upgrade, repair, renovation, and completion of various hospitals and RHUs in the province.
The DOH will also be providing equipment to these health facilities with the total cost of P13.6 million.
The hospitals to be upgraded include Altavas District Hospital, Libacao Municipal Hospital, Buruanga Municipal Hospital, Ibajay District Hospital, Ciriaco Tirol Hospital in Boracay Island, Don Lino Diapo Sr. Memorial Hospital in Madalag, Aklan, Dr. Ramon b. Llegaspi Memorial Hospital in Makato, Aklan, and Malay Municipal Hospital.
RHUs to be repaired and renovated are in Altavas, Malinao, Buruanga, Balete, Madalag, Nabas, Makato, and Ibajay RHU II.
These RHUs will be specifically renovated and improved for birthing.
The improvement of these hospitals and RHUs are under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program handled by the DOH-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas.*PIA
